This comprehensive 4-part series is designed to empower you with the knowledge and skills needed for a bountiful and rewarding growing season. With each class building upon the last, you’ll be armed with a toolkit for a productive garden. As you implement the practical steps learned in each session, you will see your own garden transform into abundance. The Country Goods USA Garden Series is not just a learning experience; it is your passport to a garden that reflects your dedication and yields the tangible rewards of your newfound expertise.

This class is highly interactive and will take place on our farm in Star. We will using the our very own CSA garden as an instructional resource. This garden is a high yielding, raised bed garden that is responsible for supplying our members with their seasonal veggies. You will be learning the steps that we practice every year to create high yields of nutritious vegetables.
The class ticket includes all 4 classes, fertilizer samples and 6 vegetable plants of your choice from the Country Goods USA greenhouse. Each class will also include take-home worksheets and class participants will have access to our private Facebook garden group to ask questions and share progress.
Please note: Class 1 & 2 require you to select a date below. Class 3 & 4 only have one date.

You will get the workbook from the class through email and you can request to schedule a make up class. This will need to take place within 2 weeks of the original class date to ensure that we are still in the planting stage of the class materials. You can also request a call to review the class workbook and you can also ask questions in the Facebook group.
We plan our classes based on our attendee sign ups so our cancellation policy reflects this planning. You may cancel your ticket up to 15 days before the first class begins. After this date, your ticket is considered non-refundable. You can transfer your ticket to another attendee anytime.
The available tickets for this series represents the space that we have in the garden to properly teach. All participants need to have their own ticket for the series.
The farm is not a great place for young children. There are many obstacles and dangers that pose a threat should your child wander off and proper supervision may be tough in this learning environment. If you have an unavoidable childcare situation, please reach out to us at 208-576-4726 to discuss solutions that we may have.

In this class, you’ll learn how to properly prepare your garden beds so your plants actually thrive — not just survive. We’ll cover how to evaluate your existing soil, what amendments truly make a difference (and which ones are a waste of money), how to improve drainage and structure, and how to build rich, productive beds that support healthy root systems.
Good gardens don’t start with plants.
They start with soil.
Class #2: Planting – Spacing, Timing & Companion Planting
In this class, you’ll learn what’s actually ready to go in the ground (and what needs to wait), how proper spacing impacts airflow, disease prevention, and crop yield, and why cramming plants together rarely works the way you hope.
We’ll also cover companion planting — which vegetables support each other, which combinations to avoid, and how strategic flower planting can attract pollinators and beneficial insects while deterring pests.
Class #3: Plant Health – Early Pruning & Early Fertilizing
In this class, you’ll learn how to properly support young plants with the right fertilizers at the right stage — and why more is not always better. We’ll break down what nutrients plants actually need early on and how to apply them without overdoing it.
We’ll also cover early pruning techniques for specific crops to encourage stronger stems, better airflow, and higher production later in the season. A few small cuts at the right time can dramatically increase yield.
Class #4: Late Pruning, Stage 2 Fertilizing & Succession Planning
In this class, we’ll cover late-season pruning techniques that keep plants producing instead of burning out. You’ll learn how and when to apply stage-two fertilizing to support heavy fruiting without overstimulating leafy growth.
We’ll also dig into succession planting — how to replant strategically so you’re harvesting continuously instead of all at once. Finally, we’ll walk through harvest planning so you know when to pick for peak flavor, peak nutrition, and continued production.
The goal isn’t just a garden that grows.
It’s a garden that produces all season long.
